I paved the way for King Paluta & Fameye when it comes to Highlife – Amerado

Ghanaian rapper and musician Amerado Burner has boldly declared himself as the first successful rapper in Ghana to transition into highlife music. Speaking at a press conference in Accra on January 9, 2025, the “Kweku Ananse” hitmaker highlighted his influence on the music industry, claiming to have paved the way for other artists like Fameye and King Paluta to explore the highlife genre.

According to Amerado, his chart-topping success in 2024 marked a turning point in the industry. “In January 2024, ‘Kweku Ananse’ and its remix were both in the top ten on all major music platforms. This was unprecedented, and it showed the potential for highlife music to dominate the charts. I’m proud to have led the way for artists like King Paluta and Fameye to embrace highlife,” he said.

Amerado also noted a shift in the dominance of Nigerian music on Ghanaian charts, celebrating the growing prominence of local music. “Gone are the days when Nigerian songs overshadowed ours. Now, people are tuning in to more Ghanaian music, and it’s a great development for our industry,” he added.

Addressing rumors about being a “confused” musician, Amerado clarified that his ability to rap and sing reflects his versatility rather than indecision. “I’ve always wanted to challenge myself. Back in the day, I would rap while featuring singers for the choruses—most of which I wrote myself. Transitioning into highlife is not about abandoning rap; it’s about growth and self-discovery,” he explained.

He further stated, “If I can rap and sing together, why limit myself? Society often pushes us to focus on one thing, but I believe in exploring multiple talents. Let’s not confuse versatility with confusion—being dynamic is my strength.”

Amerado remains a trailblazer in the Ghanaian music scene, breaking boundaries and inspiring a new generation of artists to redefine their craft.
