“We have a duty to ourselves to do that which is right, true and lawful”.-Hon. Sam George on LGBTIQ

The member of parliament for Ningo-Pampram, Hon. Sam George who has since the beginning of this current parliament been vociferous on getting a Bill passed into law against the operations of LGBITQ+ community in Ghana, has once again defended his stance on the issue.
Hon. Sam ‘Dzata’ George, who has been leading a parliamentary committee, wrote on his official facebook page this, and he writes;
This morning, I was pleasantly surprised by a call from the General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost. He called to inform me that a number of Church Leaders were going to be in Parliament to present memos in support of the Bill we have laid before the House.
True to his word, they were led by the Leadership of the Church of Pentecost, The Methodist Church Ghana, The Apostolic Church Ghana, The Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches amongst other Clergymen and women to present about 15 memos with over 15,000 signatories. Yes, 15,000+ signatories!
Earlier this week, the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Assemblies of God Ghana, The Ashaiman Muslim Community and the Islamic Council of Ghana had all sent in memos backing the Bill. I can only look forward to the stakeholders engagements and the subsequent debates in Parliament as over 100 memos from across the world have come in.
We have a duty to ourselves to do that which is right, true and lawful. May we discharge ourselves diligently.
