South African Influencer burns Luxury clothes After being born again

After encountering Christ, South African influencer Kefilwe Mabote has made significant changes in her life, including letting go of worldly possessions she now views as vanity or tied to demonic influences. Known for her role in Netflix’s Young, Famous and African, Mabote recently shared a video on Instagram where she set fire to luxury designer items, primarily from the Versace brand.
Once a trailblazer in luxury fashion influencing in South Africa, Kefilwe specifically targeted items with the iconic ‘Medusa’ logo. “Burning the Medusa face was one of the most freeing and therapeutic things I’ve ever done,” she wrote in her Instagram story. “It was part of breaking down the idols I unknowingly built in my heart, the very things that distracted me from fully walking with Jesus.”
Mabote explained that her newfound faith has brought clarity, revealing many practices she once followed as being spiritually harmful. At the start of 2025, she had already begun her transformation by gifting luxury clothing, including designer pieces, to her loyal followers.
Reflecting on her spiritual journey, Kefilwe listed practices such as idolatry, horoscopes, new age beliefs, unforgiveness, soul ties, certain cultural traditions, wrong associations, and even social media trends as “evil things” she has renounced. “These things kept me bound without me realising it and were tools the enemy used to keep me in bondage,” she revealed.
The influencer shared that she has fully surrendered to Jesus, repented of her sins, and turned away from anything that gave the devil access to her life. “I see life differently now, and I’ve learned to live with humility,” she added.
Kefilwe Mabote’s bold move has sparked conversation across social media, with many praising her commitment to her faith while others expressed surprise at her drastic transformation.
