Don’t lend your money to family and friends – Ahintasem advises

Ghanaian media personality and herbalist, Ahintasem, also known as Oheneba Ntim Berimah, has issued a stern warning about the dangers of lending money to friends and family. Speaking on Oman FM, he reflected on his own bitter experience to caution listeners about how such actions can strain relationships.
Sharing his personal ordeal, Ahintasem recounted a troubling incident where he lent money to a close female friend in need. “She came to me in a time of need, and as a friend, I felt obligated to assist,” he said. The woman promised to repay the loan within six months, and Ahintasem trusted her assurance.
However, when the repayment period elapsed, she returned with a plea for more time, citing ongoing financial difficulties. “She asked for another six months, and I agreed, hoping things would improve for her,” he explained.
Despite the extension, the friend failed to honor her promise and gradually cut off communication. “She stopped greeting me and avoided any contact. The respect that once existed between us was gone,” he said with frustration.
Ahintasem initially refrained from confronting her, choosing to let it go. But as time passed, he felt compelled to address the issue. “It wasn’t just about the money anymore—it was about the disrespect,” he emphasized.
His story serves as a cautionary tale for anyone considering lending money to friends or family. “This experience taught me a hard lesson about lending money to close relations,” he said, urging listeners to think carefully before making similar decisions.
Ahintasem’s advice highlights the emotional and financial toll that lending money to friends and family can take, encouraging individuals to set boundaries to protect their relationships and finances.
