Kwaku Manu Exposes Lack of Unity and Financial Kumawood Challenges

Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has spoken about challenges in the Ghanaian movie industry, highlighting a lack of unity among actors. His remarks followed the funeral of popular actor and skit maker C Confion, who passed away in December 2024.
The funeral, held on January 11, brought celebrities and personalities together. Many fans believed it marked the return of unity in the industry. However, Kwaku Manu dismissed this as temporary. “We are workers, not friends. You see us smiling and interacting because someone has died,” he said during an interview on Fakye Showbiz.
Manu also shared his struggles, revealing he was sidelined for four years due to industry issues. He criticized how funds meant for experienced actors are shared among newly famous ones.
“When Kumawood had me, Apostle John Pra, and Akrobeto, people watched because it favored producers. But instead of paying big actors, they shared the money among the new ones,” he said.
Kwaku Manu’s comments raise concerns about fairness and unity in Kumawood. They also highlight the struggles of long-standing actors in the industry.
