King Promise wins Artiste of the Year at 26th TGMAs

Afrobeats sensation King Promise has been crowned Artiste of the Year at the 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), marking a major milestone in his music career.
After two consecutive nominations for the top prize in 2024 and 2025, the “Terminator” hitmaker finally secured the coveted title.
He also walked away with three additional awards—Best Afropop Song, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, and Album/EP of the Year.
Though he narrowly missed out on the top honour last year, King Promise made a remarkable comeback this year, earning 10 nominations including Telecel Most Popular Song.
In his emotional acceptance speech, he spoke directly to the youth, encouraging resilience and faith.
“If any young person is watching me right now who has a dream, use me as an example of resilience,” he said. “My first year when I broke out on the scene, I had seven nominations and I left with zero. While some people laughed, I just worked harder because I believe in God’s timing. Today, I am the chosen one.”
The singer’s consistent growth and hard work, both locally and internationally, have been evident. In 2024, he embarked on a “True to Self” global tour that took him across Europe, Asia, and North America.
His performances at major events such as Afro Nation Detroit, where he shared the stage with global acts like Lil Wayne and Asake, solidified his standing on the world stage.
King Promise’s win is being celebrated as a testament to patience, determination, and artistic evolution.
