“I was depressed and crying at home that day,” Serwaa recounted. “Auntie Obuobia came to see me and said, ‘Let’s go and buy ice cream.’ I wasn’t talking to anyone, but she insisted. She picked me up, and we went to Osu. I tried to wear a cap to hide my face, but she asked, ‘Why are you hiding? Let’s go.’ She bought me a big cup of ice cream and told me to eat as much as I wanted.”
The simplicity of this gesture meant the world to Serwaa. It marked the beginning of her healing journey, as Obuobia continued to offer her unwavering support.
“And she said she would take me out for lunch the next day,” Serwaa added. “Though we ended up canceling, that one ride helped me so much. Auntie Obuobia, thank you because I never told you how grateful I was for that. It did me a lot of good.”
Serwaa praised Obuobia’s consistent support not only for herself but also for her sister.
“She has been an amazing person,” Serwaa continued. “I don’t think I need to say much. You all here know how supportive she is. She’s always advising me. Auntie Obuobia, thank you. I love you very much.”
