Ghana Beats Zimbabwe 3-1 on Milo’s Return as Blackstars Coach

Goals from Kudus Mohammed, Thomas Partey and Andre Ayew were enough to ensure Blackstars return to winning ways in the 2022 Qatar World cup qualifier.
Coach Milovan Rajevac had nothing on his mind, on his ‘second coming’ debut but a win, when he gave debutant goalie Jojo Wollacot and starlet Issahaku Fatawu a starting place in the game against Zimbabwe on Saturday, going into the game, knowing group leaders, South Africa have beaten Ethiopia away, the intent was nothing but a win.

The intent was evident right from the start of the game, when Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed opened the scoring just 5minutes into the game. With several chances created in the first half, it was only the lone goal that separated both sides going into the break.
Ghana largely controlled the first half. Clear the team is trying to be more direct with the ball. Fewer touches in transition but cohesion still not at optimum.
The second half started with Zimbabwe piling the pressure in the opening minutes, which paid off with a penalty, calming slotted home by captain of the side, Knowledge.
After quarter of hour pressure from the warriors in the 2nd half, the Stars found their feet back into the game, with another goal from the deputy skipper of the side, Thomas Partey putting Ghana ahead again. It was all Ghana, at this stage, with Coach Milo introducing fresh legs, who would drive the team forward, and in the 87th minute, captain Andre Ayew lashing onto a Baba- Rahman cross to seal the game, and give the Blackstars three maximum point and move a point behind Bafana Bafana going into the next round of games.

Later in the second half, Daniel Kofi Kyere and Samuel Owusu coming in to replace Kamaldeen and Andre Ayew respectively.
The Blackstars will face Zimbabwe in the return fixture on Tuesday, October 12 in Harare.
