Ghana’s Minister of Trade and Industries, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng has admonished the need for African countries to urgently see to the development of it’s technology and engineering capabilities to be counted amongst the elite continents in today’s tech and engineering driven world.
The former NPP Presidential aspirant, who is ticked as one of the strong force to succeed the sitting president in NPP’s next flag-bearer elections scheduled for 2023, reiterated, Africa, obviously falls in the latter, and we need to take immediate steps to change this for the better, if we are to be counted among the more prosperous continents in the world.
There is an urgent need for Africa to develop its technological and engineering capabilities if it is to be counted among the premier continents. This is because the divide between rich and poor countries, is one between those with engineering capabilities and capacities, and those without.

This was part of a keynote address he delivered on Tuesday, 5th October, 2021, at the Marriott Hotel in Accra, at the 7th edition of the Africa Engineering Week and The 5th Africa Engineering Conference.
It was under the theme: Engineering Intra-Africa Trade and The Sustainable Development Goals”.
He further told the Conference that, without the role of engineering professionals the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) protocols, which l helped to draft while serving as Trade Policy Advisor to the UN Economic Commission for Africa, in 2007, cannot be achieved.
