Your Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo I write to you this letter not as a spectator but a passionate, worried and disgruntled citizen of our beloved motherland Ghana. Many of us, not only the football loving ones but majority of your citizenry have had it to the neck over the wrangles leading to the poor and abysmal performance exhibited by our Black Stars in the just ended AFCON 21017, where we failed miserably coupled with the insults rained on us by some of the players.
It is no hidden fact that, the management, technical handlers and the playing body have lost the pride of sacrificing and thus have become ‘spectators’ rather than citizens in their line of duty which the nation spends so much to make it enjoyable for them. There is a general anger in the citizens whom have endured several ‘heart breaks’ and abuse from the management and playing body of our Stars over the past decade chasing continental glory which has cost the nation not less than $100m.
Mr. President, in view of the above mentioned coupled with others which you might be abreast with, I, together with not just the 5million + who voted you into power but over 20million Ghanaians propose;
First, the implementation of the Presidential Commission’s report on 2014 World cup saga with immediate effect. Secondly, that, the current administration of the Ghana Football Association led by Mr. Kwasi Nyantekyi be dissolved, we know Mr. Nyantekyi as a lawyer will scare us with FIFA Sanctions should you decide to take such an action, but Your Excellency, don’t be perturbed by such, the least FIFA would do should government interfere in football association matters is to Suspend/Ban us for 2years from their competitions. Looking at the current stand of the Black stars, we are more unlikely to qualify for the next World cup in 2018, so should we be banned from football activities for say 2years, we will be serving it during that period of the next world cup and should be ready to begin a new chapter towards the 2022 edition’s with a new poised to work administration devoid of corruption together with a new Black stars team which will be ready to wear the national colors with pride not at price.
Your Excellency, we the youth and passionate citizens who believe in your bold and discipline character devoid of corruption want to see a new fresh air blowing at the GFA to propel not only our flagship carrier the Black Stars to greater heights and regaining it past glory as the continent’s best and one of the best on the world stage, but see total upliftment in all our footballing quarters, from all our national teams, the local Leagues (GPL), youth developments across board.
As sports loving especially football fan that you are, we believe you will take our plea into kind consideration and deliver us from the hands of ‘Pharaoh’.
Yours Passionate Citizen
PapaQuasy Abakah.
