Courier Dispatchers are not Armed Robbers, Ghana Police Take it easy on Us -Courier Association Prez Cries

The National Courier Association of Ghana is calling on the Government and Ghana Police Service to take urgent steps to address the recent operations which are affecting business operators in the courier industry.
This comes at the back of Police operations in recent weeks to clamp down on persons using motorbikes after several daylight robberies involving motorbikes in various parts of Accra, which has led to the police randomly stopping and somehow arresting motorbike drivers in some cases courier dispatchers as well.
It is in this regard, the President of the National Courier Association of Ghana, Mr. Kwame Bekoe has issued a statement showing the association’s displeasure to these police operations which is hampering their business operations.
We do understand issues of rising incidents of highway robberies in Greater Accra which are usually perpetuated with motorcycles.
The courier services operations require the use of Motorcycles and all members under the National Courier Association are law abiding members and should not be recognized as people involved in any nefarious activity.Recent complaints from our members indicate that the Ghana Police Service is making our work so difficult.
Our dispatchers are often delayed unduly .This is affecting our business operations negatively. In effect we are unable to deliver clients items on time causing revenue loss.
Members of our association do comply with Road Traffic rules and regulations and we plead with the Acting Inspector General of Ghana Police Service, Dr George Dampare to recognize our operations as legitimate to help improve our operations of service.
As an association, we are ready to meet the Ghana Police Service Management Board to help find lasting solutions to the recent problems faced us.
