Newly Rehab Kumasi Stadium, Accra Stadium not fit for Ghana Premier League – Club License Cmtt.

Ghana Football Association’s, club licensing committee has submitted its report on the current conditions of venues selected by premier league clubs ahead of the commencement of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season.

The committee which is mandated to approve various infrastructure of participating premier league clubs, before issuing them license to be used and operate announced their decision on findings from their visits to all selected venues by GPL Clubs.

In the committee’s report out of the 18 league clubs, 15 clubs have their match venues conditionally rejected, and only four venues, that is, Cape coast stadium, Obuasi Len Clay, Tamale ALiu Mahama stadium and WAFA park are the only venues conditionally approved as at now, meaning newly rehabilitated, yet to be used Kumasi Baba Yara stadium, and Accra Sports Stadium have all fallen short of the infrastructure condition.

Their statement reads;

The decisions were  taken based on the reports received from the Club Licensing Manager from the inspection visits across the various venues.

The Club Licensing Committee was not satisfied with the reports of all the venues submitted. However, four venues namely; WAFA Park, Aliu Mahama Stadium, Cape Coast and the Len Clay Stadium have been granted conditional approval pending the correction and or defects as stated in the inspection reports by October 18, 2021.

Meanwhile, 15 Clubs have had their Main venues CONDITIONALLY REJECTED pending a re – inspection to ascertain the status of recommendations as instructed in the decisions of the Club Licensing Committee.

The Club Licensing Committee shall be making final decisions on the venues after the final inspection on October 18, 2021.

The decisions on the match venues shall be final for the period of the first round. The Club Licensing Committee shall only review decisions of the match venues to update the venue list before the start of the second round.
