Dr. Bawumia has not bought me a house – Adwoa Smart Clarifies

Beloved Ghanaian actress Adwoa Smart, born Belinda Naa Ode Oku, has denied claims that she is pitiful or needy. She addressed these allegations on Ayekoo Ayekoo with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM on January 16, 2025.

“I’m not pitiful and needy,” Adwoa Smart said. “Things may not be perfect, but I’m content.” She added that her only wish is to own a house someday. However, she blamed bloggers for misrepresenting her comments and making it seem like she was begging for help.

Adwoa Smart also addressed rumors that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, gave her a house. She revealed that these claims are entirely false. “They even edited a photo to make it look like Dr. Bawumia handed me a house key,” she said.

She clarified that she has never met Dr. Bawumia, except briefly during Nana Ampadu’s state funeral. “If not for that funeral, I wouldn’t have met him,” she added. Adwoa Smart worried that these rumors could discourage people from supporting her genuine goals.

“This has caused me unnecessary pressure,” she said. “People keep asking me about this false story. Just last week, I was questioned about it again.”

Adwoa Smart urged the public to avoid spreading false information. “Don’t share things you know are untrue,” she appealed.

The veteran actress also spoke about the role of social media in spreading misinformation. “Social media can be helpful, but it also causes a lot of harm,” she noted. She praised its role in exposing crime but criticized its use for creating false narratives.

Adwoa Smart’s message highlights the importance of responsible online behavior. Sharing false information, she said, can cause unnecessary harm and pressure.
