Ghana’s ‘Rap King’ and multi award winning musician Sarkodie is said to be looking at the prospects of initiating writing and music business workshops to aid in the development of young arts coming through.
This was revealed in a tweet by the Chief Executive of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr. Yoofi Grant, after the BET award winner paid a business visit to his office earlier in the week. The meeting which is said to have centered around how the creative industry in Ghana can collaborate and take opportunities available at GIPC to maximize its potential and revenue streams.
Ghana’s creative industry is seen to be under-performing, in order to tap into the multi billion dollar that the sector provides like tourism which goes in hand, stakeholders and players in the industry have constantly been advised to be entrepreneurially CREATIVE, which will urge the state to give them the space and push to perform, that they have always cried and yearn for.
The rapper’s influence on the music culture and creative space is undeniable, which many young ones aspiring to be up there look upon, such initiatives of workshops on music business, writing and mentoring sessions would offer the up and coming ones a great experience and open them up to many opportunities which is hardly shared.
Sarkodie who is seen as perhaps the biggest musical creative export to Ghana, who has over the past decade distinguished himself highly, winning countless awards both local and international, with a huge brand influence cutting across many demography. It is no secret, many well established multi-national corporate brands easily associate with his brand, thereby making him the flag-bearer to Ghana’s creative industry.
